Wow, long time between posts

I just thought I would break my blogging drought to celebrate finishing a book that has been in my "current reading" pile for about two years.

The Autograph Man - is the second novel by Zadie Smith, she of White Teeth fame. I loved White Teeth but by gums The Autograph Man is a different, really very uninteresting, kettle of fish. It may just be that I have had a baby and as such have no brain anymore but I am unable to enjoy novels with unsympathetic protagonists. I think that when I read books I like to identify with lives that aren't mine and I find it difficult to enjoy when the main character is a whingy, self-centred pain in the ass. I may of course be a whingy, self-centered pain but I certainly don't want to read stories based on it.

It was also very worthy and had lots of information about Judaism.
